Privacy notice

What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or have it removed. Written to be read rather than skimmed past.

What we collect

When you create an account: your name, email address and date of birth. The date of birth decides which protections apply to your account — it is not used for anything else.

When you learn: which topics you have completed, your quiz attempts and scores, and anything you submit as a final project, including files you attach.

When you are assessed: the verdict, the reviewer’s written feedback, and any certificate issued.

When you join through a school or organisation: a username they issue and a PIN you choose. No email address is collected from you.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your information to anyone.
  • We do not use your submitted work to train models.

Who else sees it

Your reviewer sees the work you submit and your name, because a person assessing your work needs to know whose it is.

Your school or organisation, if you joined through one, sees your progress and outcomes. They are responsible for your data in that context; we process it on their instruction.

Our suppliers — the companies that host the platform, send our email and deliver our video. They process data on our instruction and cannot use it for their own purposes. We name them in our data processing terms.

Age

Splari is for people aged 18 and over. We ask you to confirm that when you sign up. Where an organisation enrols a group of learners, that organisation is responsible for confirming its learners meet the same requirement — it is written into the terms we sign with them.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and progress: while the account is open.
  • Certificates: indefinitely, so they can still be verified — unless you ask us to delete them.
  • After you close your account: thirty days, then permanent deletion.
  • Anonymous completion counts: kept, because instructor payments are calculated from them. They contain nothing identifying.

Your rights

You can download everything we hold about you from your account page, at any time, without asking. You can also correct it, or ask us to delete it.

Deleting your account withdraws any certificates you have earned, so their public verification pages stop working. We say so plainly before you confirm, because it catches people out.

Where your data is

Our database and file storage are hosted in a data centre region we publish on the security page. If you need data kept in a specific country, talk to us before you sign anything — we will tell you honestly whether we can do it.

Changes

If we change this notice in a way that materially affects you, we email you. Where consent was given for a child, a material change means asking again — consent given for one version does not carry to another.
